How to fade
by allyouneedislove inhypothetically speaking:.
if a baptized jw is moving to a new city a little less than an hour away from the current congregation, what is the best way to fade?
my family will be attending regularly.

A current scandal in the UK has been giving me pause. A BBC presenter Jimmy Savile died last year. Savile was a much loved almost revered man, an eccentric who raised hundreds of millions for charity.
Recently, the story changed. It came to light, gradually but inexorably, that Savile was one of the most prolific paedophiles in history. He used his trusted position at the BBC and his proximity to the young and impressionable to commit these foul crimes for more than 40 years. So far more than 300 victims have come forward.
The BBC has not acted well over this, there have been apparent cover-ups, the management has been changing it’s story but the overall thrust of things seems to be that they are now trying to do the right thing.
The most encouraging thing for me is this. The biggest critics and investigators of the BBC and it’s management have been it’s own news teams. The BBC rank and file are remorseless in publicly examining the behaviour of senior management up to and including the Director General. The fresh breeze of public scrutiny is clearing out the toxic fumes.
How different from the handling of emerging cases in DubLand. When the culture is sealed lips, say nothing and we are always right even when wrong. The toxins just build up, the stink gets worse and there is nothing to clear away the filth. God, I’m glad I’ve turned “worldly.

A Couple Points about New Elders Child Abuse Letter Directions ...........
by flipper inin aragon's thread which has reached 6 pages a couple of points were touched on that i wanted to bring out but thought these points deserved a whole thread to dissect and discuss them.. first off : there seems to be a total hypocrisy , arrogance, or typical speaking out of both sides of their mouth when the wt instructions in the letter says :.
" the branch office, not the local body of elders, determines whether an individual who has sexually abused children in the past will be considered a ' predator ' .
then this quote from the 1997 wt instructions : " and the congregation cannot read hearts to tell who is and who is not liable to molest children again.

I agree Flipper, the hypocracy is breathtaking. I think you could be right WT have painted themselves into a corner by re-appointing so many dodgy men.
On a side note, does anyone know if the same letter has been issued in the UK. The particular laws about reporting paedophilia seem to vary from state to state but UK law is different.

Fifth Estate Program in Canada - Former Jehovah's Witness from NH - Whistleblower
by RAYZORBLADE intif21 - had posted about the fifth estate (which was great), but i know most people outside of canada, will be unfamiliar with the show and the cbc.. here is the link to last night's program.
it features a young woman who had faced sexual abuse as a jw, and how little to next to nothing was done.
when she finally had enough ... well, you'll see what happens next.

Excellent program, when was it made? It seems to be a couple of years or more old. I would love to know how the cases against WT progress. The Conti case will be known just as the one that cracked the dam.

Patterson on the line: Watchtower claims that paying cash bond would cause immediate irreparable harm and hardship

My view is that:
1. WTS is an organisation that is asset rich.
2. My experience is that huge corporations can fail because allthough they have massive worth, cashflow starves them.
3. If putting up real estate is simply a legal strategy, why put up the crown jewels? It would seem more logical to look at the portfolio and put up something less central to the throbbing heart of the operation.
If this relatively small hump in the road causes such a swerve, what of the flood of cases that would follow a successful outcome of the Conti case. I think Cedars is on to something.

In Jehovah's Witnesses- Elders Have Rights- other JW's Don't- 10/15 WT
by flipper inin the 10/15 watchtower study edition on pg.
12 is the article " what kind of spirit do you show ?
" right away this article starts drawing the line of demarcation in the sand between who has the right to make decisions within jehovah's witnesses and who does not have the right to do so.

After Elephant's critisism of the process, I notice he is not able to address the content, back to the thread.
Because of what THEY perceive as defects in elders, some individuals who engage in serious wrongdoing in the congregation have refused to appear before a committee of elders assigned to help them. This could be likened to a patient who loses out on the benefits of a treatment because he does not like something about the doctors
I have been thinking about this, the outrage expressed is completely justified, I am incandescent having received this “help” on several occasions.
The committee assigned to help them is for no such purpose. The “help” phase ended when a committee was formed whose primary purpose is to “keep the congregation clean”. By this stage their view of you is a piece of dogsh*t stuck to their shoe.
As many have said, the doctor analogy simply doesn’t fly. A closer one would be a vet who shakes his head sadly before giving you a lethal injection and sending you off to be rendered down for soap.
Help ….. my ass!
